The size of a big bearded dragon depends on some factors such as their gender, environment, diet, etc. Learn more about what impact their size will help you to keep your beardie in the right way.

The size base on their environment

Are you provided them a good condition to grow? Bearded dragons only grow completely with the full size if the environment allows them. If you provide them a tank that is too small when they are young, then they cannot reach their full size.

Besides, bearded dragon enclosure also needs some essential equipment such as the heater, good substrates, basking area, hide space, light, accessories to support them do exercise, etc. A comfortable environment will help them well grow and gain proper weight.

Exposing adequately to the UVB light

Like the human, the bearded dragons also need sunlight to absorb calcium. In the enclosure, UVB light plays the role of the sun, giving them the ability to produce vitamin D3 and allow them to absorb enough calcium from their food.

If a bearded dragon has not enough amount of UVB, their bones can be weak and brittle, inhibit the development of bones. Without UVB, your bearded dragon can also have a suppressed appetite and reduce the size of growing.

In case you set up the UVB bulb done, you should be attentive to the distance between the bulbs and your pet. If it not close enough, the bulbs may not effective.

Feeding them a proper diet

Adult bearded dragons can be fed once time per day with a diet including 80% is vegetables. But younger bearded dragons, especially for a baby, need to contain much amount of protein in their diet to grow up big and healthy.

Feeding them as much protein as they will eat that means there is not a quantity limitation of protein for every meal. If the baby is under 3 months old, you should feed them 5 times per day and allow them to eat unlimited food for 5-10 minutes.

It is needless to say that a healthy bearded dragon will grow faster and bigger than a bearded dragon that is malnourished.
